Particular care and expertise are dedicated to the archaeological heritage restoration, mostly the realization of the excavation, with the help of archaeologists and technicians, and taking advantage of the today's best available methodologies. Sometimes it may be useful to perform a preliminary exploration by non-destructive extensive investigations, such as georadar, thermovision, geoelectric investigations of the site to conduct a coordinated program of excavation.
An excavation campaign is aimed to discover and document any buried ancient structures, by removing, archaeological analyses and disposal of clay and resulting rubbles. The findings coming to the light undergo to a complete restoration, finalized to their conservation. Sometimes, cause of logistical problems, it is necessary to re-bind what has been discovered, or to proceed with a musealization, or the objects are moved from the original site through highly sophisticated techniques (cutting of masonry, consolidation of portions to be moved, moving and safeguard in appropriate environments).
The intervention of conservative restoration of the surfaces thus find includes a first putting in security, the cleaning, the consolidation and the protection. In the case of masonry, before any consolidating treatment and/or protective it is useful to identify the presence of hydro-soluble salts and/or of humidity fronts which could damagingly interfere with the products applied.
"Il Cenacolo" is also busy in the arrangement of the archaeological areas, at the end of excavation campaigns, for the conservation and fruition of the archaeological heritage, whether ruins to protect, or objects to be restored and musealizated.
